Charging electric vehicles requires DC-sensitive residual current monitoring in order to avoid electrical hazards. Typically, a type A residual current circuit breaker is installed in an installation. These cannot detect DC faults. However, DC residual currents can cause the type A residual current circuit-breaker to go blind. They must therefore be protected by a DC-sensitive residual current sensor. The benvac® X836 detects DC residual currents in accordance with IEC62955:2018 and AC/DC residual currents in accordance with UL2231-2 Ed.2.
